Fort McCoy

Fort McCoy Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Academy

Fort McCoy, Wis.

Fort McCoy is the US Army’s most active mobilization training center. This “Total Force Training Center” hired DeArteaga-Miron Joint Venture and SEH to conduct the design-build construction of a new Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Academy. SEH provided architecture, design, civil engineering, interior design and construction administration services for the project.

The new 38,000 square foot project is employing the design-build delivery method with a fast-track package for all site and building envelope components. This will allow the schedule to be accelerated and provide a earlier move in date. The $7.8M project is being designed and constructed concurrently with Phase III requiring greater coordination between the two design teams and contractors.

Incorporating anti-terrorism/force protection design elements, the facility will house administrative, educational, auditorium, computer lab and administration support areas for approximately 256 soldiers. The design features increased daylighting for the classrooms to allow energy use reductions while still meeting anti-terrorism standards. The classrooms are being designed to accommodate high levels of technology and remain flexible for future technological innovations and teaching methods.
