Meter Station Improvements

SEH was retained by MCES to implement a comprehensive meter station improvement program at 18 locations within the metro area, which included preliminary evaluation, final design and construction administration services. A technical feasibility memorandum was created for each meter site, which evaluated project alternative options, life cycle cost options, right-of-way acquisition assessments, and construction. Using comprehensive planning information from the communities and MCES, SEH used hydraulic capacity modeling software, and InfoSWMM to evaluate present and future wastewater capability at each site.

Two design packages were prepared based on the approved recommendations from the individual technical memorandums. In addition to the meter station improvements, SEH provided flow monitoring services at 18 temporary meter sites and 50 planning meter sites throughout the MCES interceptor collection system during a twelve month period for the purpose of identifying I/I peak flow rates. SEH field crews performed all flow meter reconnaissance to identify appropriate locations, equipment needs, and health and safety issues. Isco Model 2150 and ADFM Pro20 are velocity series flow meters that were used in pipe sizes ranging from 8 to 120-inch as part of the flow monitoring. The flow meter data was compiled and evaluated in monthly process reports using Flowlink software.
